Altar Table Cloth with IHS and Floral Embroidery | Altar Linen

This altar table cloth is made in white with a plain, uncluttered top and a wide embroidered border along the hem. The lower edge falls in soft scallops, each outlined in gold braid with an open cutwork loop set inside, giving the cloth a light, finished edge as it hangs over the front of the altar.

At the centre of the border is a gold IHS monogram with a cross rising from the middle of the letters and short rays radiating from behind it. The IHS is the traditional christogram for the name of Jesus. On either side, garlands of roses, rosebuds and green leaves curve outward and trail along the border, worked in shaded thread so the petals and leaves look full and natural.

The IHS monogram, flowers and leaves are machine-embroidered at high stitch density, keeping the fine shading in the petals and the veins in the leaves crisp and well defined against the white ground. The gold braid on the scalloped edge is securely stitched for regular use.
